Descripción
Sumario:
Research and innovation in curricular practices within higher education institutions (HEIs) lead to the reconfiguration of learning communities. The global trend towards internationalisation, expressed through a strategically orientated labour market, addresses current needs regarding the accumulation of global competencies by amplifying the phenomenon of mobility between students and professors and by diversifying partnerships. To address the challenges of globalisation, international competition, economic transformation, and technological innovation, the development of the curriculum through co-creative processes is necessary. Internationalisation and globalisation lead to the modernisation and transformation of higher education institutions into centers of advanced academic knowledge and innovation. The priority functional areas at the university level are: developing a curriculum relevant to the job market, diversifying integrated services for professionalisation, identifying interdisciplinary research topics in mixed teams of professionals, ensuring human resources for counselling on issues associated with institutional needs, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and skill development, cross-border technology transfer, employability, etc. The synergy of these functional areas leads to innovation and a holistic approach by relating to the continuously changing social context. This chapter is structured as a conceptual and applied analysis, supported by academic literature and institutional frameworks, and proposes new perspectives and suggestions for tools aimed at decision-makers and educational leaders who wish to develop the academic curriculum based on research data. At the same time, it becomes necessary to improve the innovation capacity at the level of higher education institutions and to evaluate the value of innovative curricular products through the use of self-reflection tools or community testing.
