Sumario:Among the biomaterials used in the field of oral surgery, allogeneic bone is considered as a good material. In the particulate form, demineralized freeze-dried bone allograft (DFDBA) is useful in many procedures in maxillofacial surgery. Platelet concentrate (platelet-rich fibrin, PRF) is obtained by centrifugation of blood. This contains high concentrations of growth factors and could enhance healing, and possibly improve bone repair and regeneration. Although it remains unclear whether they are able to accelerate bone healing and influence bone quality, platelet concentrates accelerate dermal soft tissue and oral mucosa healing post-extraction. A combination of particulate DFDBA and platelet concentrate (PRF) is used in our department for horizontal and vertical bone grafts.
